Hey there! Happy Monday!
Just like a lot of people across the nation, I woke up this morning to snow. To say it's beautiful is an understatement. However, I had to call out of work this morning because I couldn't get my car out of the garage 😂
So, I'm spending the day with my husband and dogs, enjoying watching the snow fall and crocheting a new sweater for my girl, The Darby. She turned 3 this past Saturday. It's hard to believe I've had her for three years this coming April. She's been a huge part of my healing after losing Bugz and Freya within 23 hours of each other back in 2020.
It's also a great day to practice the art of hygge (hyoo-guh). Staying warm and cozy with fuzzy socks, flannel pajamas, loads and loads of blankets and a fire as snow falls outside is the epitome of living slowly and with intention. We rarely get this much snow here on Theta Mountain, so when we do get snow, it's important to learn how to enjoy it.
There's also a lot of hearthwitch things you can do on snowy days like today. Hubby started the fire with fire starters I made over the summer by soaking dryer lint, shredded paper and cardboard egg cartons in leftover candle wax that I melted down. Of course there's crocheting, knitting or quilting. Making things with our hands has been proven to settle our nervous systems and give us a break from our anxiety. Plus, as we sit beside the fire, working with our hands, we call in our ancestors to sit with us in the warmth.
We can also use the fire to work practical magic! Throw some sage, palm santo or copal resin into the flames to help clear stagnant energy and cleanse the space. You can write your wishes on bay leaves and toss them in as well. As they burn, their smoke carries your request out to the Universe quickly and quietly.
Tell me, what are doing to celebrate the snow today?
